Butte GIS Working Group
BCAG initiated the Butte GIS Working Group in 2000 to coordinate GIS planning activities between BCAG, its member agencies, and other outside government agencies in Butte County. Meetings are held quarterly to discuss the development of common GIS data layers that can be used by all public agencies in the region. The meetings also serve as a forum to cooperatively develop joint GIS projects with other agencies, with a goal of reducing redundancy of effort and costs of developing GIS projects for each agency.
A variety of other GIS topics are regularly discussed, including the use of GIS data, metadata, GIS data standards, U.S. Census data, etc.
The Butte County GIS Working Group includes representatives from the following agencies:
Meetings are held at 9 am in BCAG's Conference Room at 326 Huss Drive, Suite 150 in Chico. An agenda is distributed approximately one week prior to the meeting date.
