| | The Butte County Association of Governments has initiated a call for projects for federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program Funds (CMAQ). Eligible applicants must have a master agreement in place with Caltrans. Typical applicants include cities and county, however, joint project sponsorship is allowed. Interested applicants without a master agreement with Caltrans are encouraged to work with the local cities and county for potential projects. New projects will be programmed as part of the development of the 2008/09 Federal Transportation Improvement Program. | | On behalf of the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the Butte County Association of Governments (BCAG) is managing the construction of Project Number 03-3A0404 entitled: STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION PROJECT PLANS FOR CONSTRUCTION ON STATE HIGHWAY AT EAST FIRST AVENUE UNDERCROSSING General Project Description: Northbound off ramp re-construction at East First Avenue to replace operationally deficient and low capacity off ramp conforming to current design standards including new retaining wall and signalized intersection. The work will widen the northbound off ramp from two lanes to three lanes.
The project with Sierra Nevada Construction of Sparks, Nevada for $4,548,007.00 began the week of April 14, 2008 and is expected to be under construction through the end of the 2008 calendar year. A Phase II project expected in the spring of 2010 is currently in design.
Throughout construction, BCAG will be distributing a bi-weekly project newsletter. The most current newsletter may also be downloaded and viewed on this website. Vali Cooper & Associates, Inc. of Sacramento, CA, will be performing contract administration for the construction project with Keith Flaherty, PE, acting as the Resident Engineer. | | On behalf of its member jurisdictions, BCAG supports a website focused on the development of the Butte Regional Habitat Conservation Plan/Natural Community Conservation Plan (HCP/NCCP) at www.buttehcp.com.
The website provides up-to-date information on the progress of the Plan development, upcoming meetings and milestones, documents for review, as well as general information on HCP/NCCPs. | |

| | The public is invited to review and comment on the Chico Area Bicycle Map currently being developed by the Butte County Association of Governments (BCAG). The map is in DRAFT form. The public is encouraged to provide input into the development process. The map will be approximately 22 inches in height and 28 inches in width. The front side will encompass the Chico area with existing bike routes as defined by the City of Chico Bicycle Plan. The development of the map is scheduled to be completed by May 24, 2008.
The draft map represents progress completed thru January 2008. Current work efforts that will be incorporated in the next draft map update by BCAG will include: - Additional street names
- Connectivity between established routes
- Cleanup of CSUC campus map inset with larger labels
- Additional landmarks, bridges, shopping centers and labeling
- Development of the Index
- Connectivity through Bidwell Park
- Safety information and riders guide information on back side and cover
- Photos representing key areas
- Enlargement of back side of map showing Lower and Upper Bidwell Park for increased clarity

Be sure to include a mailing address or e-mail address. Once the project is completed, the City of Chico will host the electronic files on their web site with the goal to allow individuals turn on or off various layers to suite individual mapping needs. | |

| | Butte County Association of Governments is accepting nominees for the Social Services Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC). SSTAC council members review information on possible unmet transit needs within Butte County, as well as provide a forum to address other transportation issues facing persons who rely on public transit. The SSTAC is a direct advisory council to the BCAG Board of Directors and includes representation as directed by statute. The term of each appointment is 3 years. The council members meet on an “as needed” basis approximately 2-4 times per year during the work day. While applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, to be considered for the 2008/2009 cycle, applications must be received by May 2, 2008. Click here for the Application for Appointment. | | B-Line is developing a Comprehensive Bus Stop Improvement Plan, which includes a complete inventory and listing of all public transit stops in Butte County. This plan is currently in draft stage. Please contact BCAG if you have questions or comments about the plan. | |
