| | BCAG is required to prepare the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) every three years. The RTP is a long-range (20 year minimum) plan that covers all modes of transportation for the region. The RTP serves as the foundation for the preparation of the RTIP and FTIP. The BCAG Board of Directors is scheduled to adopt the RTP by June 2008. The RTP can be amended at any time by the BCAG Board. Public input is strongly encouraged during the development of the Plan as well as after it is adopted.
New federal transportation regulations require Metropolitan Planning Organizations such as BCAG to adopt a plan to provide the public with opportunities to be involved in the transportation planning process. In response to SAFETEA-LU regulations, the development of a Public Participation Plan is also underway. One goal of the PPP is to invite participation from a broad range of groups and individuals in the 2008 RTP and other BCAG plans and programs with the development and decision-making process.
If your group or agency would like a presentation on the RTP, please contact the BCAG offices.
